Niederwil: R-Motorsport will break new ground this season. The team, based in Niederwil, Switzerland, are now extending their range of motor racing activities to include the GT4 European Series and have just announced the names of their first drivers for this debut season – Seb Perez and George Gamble.

The GT4 European Series is a top GT4 championship, featuring competition that is both intense and wide ranging. Teams and drivers from all over the world ensure plenty of top-class motor racing out on track and a field of around 40 vehicles is not uncommon.

The race calendar includes prestigious circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone and the Nürburgring. The series is held under the banner of the GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS and is thus a championship in which R-Motorsport are already active. R-Motorsport will field the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 which is more closely based on a standard production car than the GT3 version and is regarded as its ‘little brother’.

R-Motorsport have already selected their first drivers and have signed two young talents, Seb Perez and George Gamble, to contest their first season in GT4. 20-year-old Perez started out in rallying, following in the footsteps of his father, three-time British rally champion, Steve Perez, before switching to focus on circuit racing in 2015 where he has since enjoyed a great deal of success. The motor racing driver from Chesterfield in the north of England was crowned Pro-Am champion in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain in 2018. He secured two Pro class podiums in 2019 and ended the season in fifth place.

23-year-old British driver George Gamble also has plenty of GT race experience. He lined up in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup in 2017 before moving to contest the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain in 2018 where he promptly secured the title of Rookie champion in his first season. He finished third overall a year later, having made ten appearances on the podium.

“We are very pleased to be able to extend R-Motorsport’s range of activities this season. We see this involvement in GT4 as the logical extension of our previous GT sporting activities,” said Team Principal, Florian Kamelger. “So, as part of our programme of development for juniors, we are now giving these two GT4 drivers a chance to perform well and show that they are ready to move up into the higher categories, such as GT3, for example. With George Gamble and Seb Perez, we have signed two promising young talents, who are very keen to show just what they are capable of in GT4.”
