Formula Regional Race Report – #PREMA_Powerteam scores again in hard-fought weekend
PREMA Powerteam continued to experience an outstanding 2020 Formula Regional European Season in round 5 at Monza. The Italian squad posted another win with Dane Oliver Rasmussen and maintained control of both the driver and team championships.
Rasmussen took a commanding victory in race 2, while more podium finishes came courtesy of Gianluca Petecof and Arthur Leclerc. The Brazilian posted second places in race 1 and 3, while Leclerc brought home a P3 in race 1. Contact between the two impacted their results in race 2 which eventually saw Leclerc retire early due to an engine issue.
The Monegasque then took P6 in race 3 and exiting the weekend, he’s sitting in a close second place in points behind Petecof. Jamie Chadwick faced a tough weekend being at her first run at Monza. The British female racer took P10 in race 1 before being involved in contact in Lesmo 2 in race 2. In the final race of the weekend, she scored P8 and a points finish.

OLIVER RASMUSSEN
“It has definitely been one of my strongest weekends. We showed really good pace which I’m pretty happy with because it’s a great step towards winning races and obviously the championship. We got another win in race 2, although unfortunately in race 1 and 3 we didn’t get the results we expected. There are lots of positives to take and will work on them to come back stronger in Barcelona.”

“We definitely tried to do the maximum this weekend. We had a few struggles here and there since the beginning including an unexpected engine change before free practice. I tried to maximize qualifying and fought back in the races. It was a bit of a mess in race 2, but we bounced back with second place in race 3. Our contenders were strong but we tried our best and the team did a fantastic job. Every single time we went back on track the car was perfect. We will keep pounding, we are back to the championship lead and go on from here.”

ARTHUR LECLERC
“For sure there are positives to take. The pace was quite good all-weekend long, especially in the races. We maybe didn’t optimize the results with some problems with Gianluca in race 2. Then the engine blew up so it showed that we didn’t have good luck this weekend. The pace is here which is positive and it keeps my motivation high for the next race at Barcelona.”

“Didn’t get the rub of the green this weekend. We had good pace throughout the weekend but unfortunately got caught up in incidences out of our control. I’m really happy with the progress we’ve made after a tough start to the year though and I am looking forward to converting that into some better results in Barcelona.”
