The “EUROFORMULA VOLANT” 2011 left his mark once again in the 3rd round of the French F4 Championship which took place on the highly technical circuit of Val de Vienne near Vigeant. After some good qualifiers, where Simon Gachet respectively held 3rd and 2nd place on the starting grid, the “EUROFORMULA VOLANT” finished at the foot of the podium in race 1 and race 2. This performance put Simon Gachet, at the end of the 3rd round, in second place in the provisional rankings of the French F4 championship!
There did not seem to be anything that predisposed Simon Gachet to play a leading role in the single-seater. Indeed, while his young friends were spinning laps at the wheel of their go-karts, he was “racing” on the fields with a rugby ball in his hands! But with four podiums in six races we can confirm that the “EUROFORMULA VOLANT” 2011 is the great revelation at the start of this season!
His second place in the provisional general ranking of the championship is also a gauge of his maturity acquired on the rugby fields where its values have taught him to respect the adversary and the solidarity of his team. But to continue to hope to win the title at the end of the season, Simon Gachet will now have to reach a victory:
“I can’t wait for the next race at Magny-Cours in three weeks,” says Simon, “it’s one of my favourite circuits where I did very well last year in the V de V Championship. I hope to do the same again and take the victory, it’s essential as that would close the gap with the current leader! Apart from that, I have had a good weekend overall even if I have a few regrets in the first race where I was unfortunately unable to follow rhythm of the leading pack. The only problem, finally, is that Alex Baron did well in both races! That’s why a victory is now essential for me at the very next meeting.”
What does Laurent Fradon, the director of the EUROFORMULA School, think: “Simon has all the qualities required to win races, and this from the very next challenge. He still has an important margin of progress he can make, which makes us think that he will become more and more fearsome as the season unfolds. He is in fact a revelation, but we were expecting it! The championship still has some way to go and his consistency will be an important asset when the final tally is counted. We believe in his chances.”
The next challenge on the F1 circuit in Magny-Cours looks set to be lively and Simon Gachet, the “EUROFORMULA VOLANT” 2011, will not deprive
