RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada confirmed as eighth and final round.

Spain will host the final round of this year’s FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) after being added to the calendar today (Monday).*

Rising stars of the ERC will cross paths with FIA World Rally Championship legends as both series combine at RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada – offering the ultimate spectacle to rally fans worldwide.

The sealed-surface fixture fills the date left outstanding when the 2022 calendar was announced and takes place from 20 – 22 October.

Fast and smooth circuit-like asphalt roads in the Costa Daurada hills – just down the coast from Barcelona – will welcome ERC-registered crews, with the Qualifying Stage set to take place on Thursday before two days of flat-out action on Friday and Saturday.

The two-day counter includes up to 14 special stages totalling 240.60km. It will be the longest ERC rally of the season and concludes with the 24.40km El Montmell Power Stage on Saturday afternoon.

While the ERC round will take place on the same weekend as the WRC, it will run as a separate event under ERC regulations. WRC Promoter, which owns the commercial rights to both championships, will provide bespoke highlights, TV and social media content.

FIA European Rally Championship manager Iain Campbell was delighted to welcome RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada as the eighth round.

“We are hugely excited to announce the event as the final round of this year’s championship,” he said.

“The ERC is committed to developing and raising the profile of young talent. Many of our drivers have aspirations to reach the highs of the WRC and the inclusion of Spain as the final round will give them the perfect opportunity to showcase their abilities.

“Event organisers RACC know exactly what it takes to run a successful rally at this level and they jumped at the chance to have us on board.”

RACC president Josep Mateu added: “This rally will have a stronger impact than ever before. It will be the perfect treat for fans as they witness the world’s two biggest rally championships in the same event.

“We are pleased to welcome the ERC to Salou in October for what will be a legendary event.”
