Beechdean AMR Aston Martins feature in Prodrive celebration at Salon Privé
Beechdean AMR is playing a key role in a special display honouring one of the world’s greatest motor racing organisations, Prodrive, at Salon Privé this weekend.
Three of the team’s race-winning Aston Martin racing cars have been specially selected by the legendary advanced engineering organisation to showcase some of the success it has achieved in GT racing alongside its many other honours in global motorsport.
Each car was built by Prodrive and has been run by Beechdean AMR with Banbury-based company’s help as part of a relationship that has lasted more than a decade.
The legendary Beechdean AMR racing cars on display are:
Aston Martin DBRS9
Chassis X1 is a milestone machine for Beechdean AMR as it was with this car that the team scored its maiden British GT Championship victory at Rockingham in 2011 and then followed it up with another win at the end-of-season enduro at Silverstone in the hands of Andrew Howard and Jonny Adam. In total this car was raced at 14 events by the team between 2009 and ’11, having spent much of the first year run in partnership with Barwell Motorsport.
Aston Martin Vantage GTE
‘X2’ was the car with which Beechdean AMR became European Le Mans Series GTE Champions and two-time race winners in 2016 with Andrew Howard, Darren Turner and Alex Macdowall at the wheel. It is also the chassis that finished both its attempts at the Le Mans 24 Hours; with seventh and fourth-placed results in GTE Am in 2016 and ’17.
Aston Martin Vantage GT3
‘X3’ is the Beechdean AMR chassis; the car with which we started more than 50 races and claimed multiple title successes. Not only was it our first British GT title winner for Andrew Howard in 2013, it repeated the success two years later – this time with Andrew and long-time professional co-driver Jonny Adam sharing the spoils. It is also the car with which Stefan Mucke claimed pole position for the 2013 24 Hours of Spa.
Aston Martin Vantage GT3
The latest evolution of the Vantage GT3 – debuted in 2019 – has formed the backbone of our GT World Challenge Europe campaign this year, which was concluded at July’s 24 Hours of Spa. This example, chassis #22, has been campaigned in both the Silver and Gold Cups in 2022 with Team Principal Andrew Howard as part of the driver line-up.
Salon Privé, Britain’s most exclusive automotive garden party, is being held at Blenheim Palace until Saturday 3 September, with full public access to Salon Privé Classic & Sportscar on Sunday 4 September.
Andrew Howard, Team Principal, said: “It’s a real privilege to be asked by Prodrive to include three of our most successful Aston Martin racing cars at Salon Privé. There are few organisations in the world that have had the kind of success in motor racing over the past four decades that Prodrive have achieved. To have had a relationship with Prodrive for over a decade, one that has become closer and stronger year-on-year, has helped us achieve success at both a national and international level. To feature as part of a celebration of their success in the World Rally Championship, the Le Mans 24 Hours, touring cars, rally raids, rallycross and even single-seater racing, is very special.”
