IRON LYNX SECURES FIRST POLE WITH LAMBORGHINI HURACÁN GT3 EVO2 IN LE MANS CUP WITH HAMAGUCHI
Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Vincent Abril will start the third round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup from pole position in the GT3 class after securing the top spot in qualifying at Circuit Paul Ricard.
Having been in the mix for a good result throughout the qualifying session, Hamaguchi took the top spot in the final moments in the #63 Iron Lynx Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 with his time of 1:57.153 the fastest of all the drivers in his class.
It is the first pole position in GT3 racing for Iron Lynx since the collaboration with Lamborghini began at the start of 2023.
Hiroshi Hamaguchi said: “First of all I am glad to be back here on pole position. For the qualifying, we had a slight issue with the tyre pressure – I had to put in three laps to get the pressures up. But at the end, I was able to put things together. The team gave us a great car, Lamborghini gave us a great engine, car, everything. Thank you to everyone and I am happy to be here. Our car has a better long-run pace than over one hot lap, so I am quite confident going into the race later today.”
Andrea Piccini, Iron Lynx Team Principal and CEO, said: “It is really nice to see Hiroshi’s great lap rewarded with a pole position at Paul Ricard. I look forward to seeing them from the front of the pack and hopefully we will be able to build on this result so there is more to come in the rest of this year.”
The race is scheduled to take place at 5:10pm local time on Saturday 15 July.
