Beechdean AMR to race in GT Cup at Silverstone
Beechdean AMR will race in the GT Cup Championship at Silverstone next weekend (July 27-28) as part of the High Wycombe team’s preparations for the closing stages of the British GT season.
Two-time British GT Champion Andrew Howard will share the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with three-time Le Mans 24 Hours class winner and Aston Martin works driver Darren Turner in the four-race event on the legendary British Grand Prix circuit.
This event will reunite Andrew and Darren – who won the 2016 European Le Mans Series together with Alex Macdowall and Beechdean AMR – and who last shared a car at the British GT finale at Donington Park in 2018.
Following Silverstone, Andrew and regular co-driver Jessica Hawkins will resume their British GT campaign at Donington Park on September 7-8.
Andrew Howard, Team Principal, said: “I’m pleased to be getting back behind the wheel at Silverstone. Being taken out at the Spa at the first corner and then missing Snetterton means we’d have gone three months without actually racing when British GT resumes at Donington. Taking part in the GT Cup at Silverstone – with its format of two sprints and two endurance races – is a great way for me to stay race-sharp for when Jessica and I are next in the car together. Darren has a fantastic history with the team, including winning the ELMS crown in 2016, and has been supporting us this year as a Driver Coach so this is a great opportunity to get him behind the wheel.”
