PREMA Racing had another challenging day at Hungaroring as the FIA Formula 3 Championship signed away from Round 8 at Hungaroring. Having to deal with nonoptimal starting positions after an eventful qualifying on Friday, the team’s three drivers were trapped in the middle of the pack and could not make substantial gains.

Dino Beganovic posted the only points finish for the team in tenth place, after making up positions early and managing his tyres despite struggling for pace. Gabriele Minì also gained one spot from his qualifying position, but being stuck in a DRS train on a track notoriously devoid of passing zones, his progress was limited.

Making gains from P21, Arvid Lindblad had to avoid an early incident. After making up several positions, he was sidelined by contact in the final stages although points were still far away ahead of him.

The team is leaving Hungaroring with the lead in the Team Championship, while Minì retained P1 in the Driver Championship ahead of the penultimate round at Spa.

#1 DINO BEGANOVIC
“A difficult race. We made some changes for today from yesterday but it was tough as the pace was not very strong. I was just trying to hang on onto the top 10 and to the points and we were quite lucky with the safety car in the end to keep the 10th place, otherwise we would have dropped. We need to rethink and see what we can improve because it seems the same trend that we have had recently. We need to check the data with a bit more detail and see for Spa.”

#2 GABRIELE MINÌ
“Very tough race again, I didn’t have the pace to overtake. We were very strong in sectors two and three, but then we didn’t have the speed in sector one to pull a move for the points. In the end, the maximum we could do was P12, we were P11 for half of the race but I couldn’t really overtake for the points. Not the ideal weekend but we are still in the lead of the championship, we have Spa coming up next week. We have to work hard and bounce back.”

#3 ARVID LINDBLAD
“Not really sure what to say about today’s race. The start was pretty okay, and made up a few positions, but then, at the chicane, there was an incident, and had to avoid it. I lost what I had made up in the first lap, and then it was just so difficult to pass in the DRS train and there wasn’t really much I could do. I was able to make up two places, but then there was an incident in the end I was involved and we were unable to get to the finish. A bit of a shame, but we weren’t in the points anyway, so in the general scheme it didn’t make much difference. We have to look ahead for Spa to have a better weekend.”
