FIA Formula 2 – PREMA secures double points finish at Monza
PREMA Racing concluded the FIA Formula 2 weekend at Monza with a double points finish as Kimi Antonelli finished fourth and Ollie Bearman took seventh place at the end of the Feature Race, which outcome was conditioned by a safety-car situation.
Both Antonelli and Bearman started on Option tyres and quickly moved to Prime rubber in the early stages. However, a safety car came out only minutes later and enabled some of the competitors to gain a free pitstop and get the advantage.
Antonelli and Bearman had a hard-fought race within the pack and each other, with the Italian eventually getting the nod and finishing fourth. Still, despite the intense competition, both he and Bearman showed great potential and secured the team a double points finish in a positive weekend ahead of the next round of the series at Baku.
#3 OLLIE BEARMAN
“A tough race for us today. At one point, it was looking really good in P2. Then on the restart, I got a bit on the wrong side of everything and got stuck in the DRS train with a bit of damage as well. It was difficult as I got stuck in the part of the race where everybody was risking. It’s a bit unfortunate because the car felt really good today. I think without the safety car I could have fought for the win, but we can still be happy with the weekend.”
#4 KIMI ANTONELLI
“A messy Feature Race with a lot going on. I felt the pace was pretty strong. We were just unlucky with the safety car that helped the drivers on the other strategy gain a lot of positions. Overall, tough race but I’m still quite happy with the result.”
