Formula Regional comes back after summer break

PREMA Racing will be competing in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine this weekend as the series continues its 2024 run at Imola. The Italian venue is well-liked by drivers with its old-style character, tough corners and challenges.

Lining up as the championship leader with a stellar early run featuring five wins and as many pole positions, Rafael Camara is looking to pick up from where he left off as the series resumes following a long summer break that began in late July. The Brazilian, a Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, performed well at Imola last year, posting a debut podium in FRECA.

James Wharton is standing fifth in points and is coming from a positive run that featured six points finishes and one win. The goal for him is to be back in the hunt for victories.

Ugo Ugochukwu has positive Imola memories too, having won his first Italian Formula 4 race there to kick off a positive 2023 run. The McLaren Driver Development Programme racer secured his best result of the season with P2 in Race 2 at Circuit Paul Ricard and now hopes to compete for the top prize.

Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“We are finally set to go back on track with our FRECA operation, and we are happy to do it close to home at Imola. The goal is to continue the positive 2024 season across the board, as all three drivers displayed great pace. Camara is looking especially good for the final part of the season, but at the cost of sounding like a broken record, we must never stop pushing because we face exceptional contenders. We feel prepared. Let’s go to Imola and see what happens.”
