PREMA Racing set for Singapore F1 Academy debut
F1 Academy will be back this weekend under the blinding lights of Singapore, as PREMA Racing will be lining up at the Marina Bay street circuit for round five of the 2024 season. The outstanding 4.9-kilometer circuit, flowing in front of the iconic Downtown Core skyline, will be a challenge for teams and drivers, as it will be the first using this kind of machinery at the venue.
The typical challenges of a street circuit, including some night running, will be paired by the hot and humid environment, with high chances of rain during the entire weekend.
PREMA will be competing with a four-car lineup spearheaded by Doriane Pin. The French racer came back to victory at Zandvoort and wants to chase the win again to stay in the hunt for the title. Maya Weug also had a successful run at her home track with two podiums, repeating the results of the Jeddah opener leading to another fast street circuit. Having come back to a points finish, Tina Hausman will also be aiming for some gains in Singapore to make her way to the top-10 in points.
As the reigning champion among teams, PREMA will again field a fourth car, which will be driven wild-card driver Ella Lloyd. The British racer is currently sitting ninth in the F4 British Championship with three podiums to her credit.
Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“It’s special to be racing in such a unique location and to bring our cars to one of the world’s most exciting street tracks. We are lining up at Marina Bay coming from a very positive showing in Zandvoort to continue that momentum. There won’t be a lot of running time in Singapore, so we have to maximize every opportunity and quickly get things into the correct motion. That will be the key of the weekend in terms of challenging for the podium positions come the two races.”
