Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe – Kessel Racing with solid point result at home race in Monza
Kessel Racing was joined by more than 300 guests to witness a thrilling three-hour-race of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup at Monza this weekend. Whilst the #8 Ferrari 296 GT3 crossed the finishing line in P21 overall and 6th in class, the #74 sister-car saw an early end to its race after being hit on the first lap.
Following victory in Bronze Cup at the season opener at Paul Ricard and the participation in the highlight Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa, Monza marked the teams third outing in the GT World Challenge Endurance Cup this season. After the start, the #74 Ferrari was going strong, but whilst approaching Turn 2, the car was hit by the #10 Silver Cup Mercedes. Whilst spinning, the car crashed into the #80 Porsche, meaning the retirement of the #74 car.
The #8 Ferrari had a solid race, even taking the lead in Bronze Cup after two hours, however, a period of Full-Course-Yellow and Safety Cars shook up the order. Despite missing out on a podium finish, the blue Kessel Racing Ferrari still scored a good point result for the Kessel family at their home race.
Kessel Racing is heading straight to Mugello Circuit, where the team will be competing in the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup next weekend.
