At the invitation of Tiago Monteiro and José Guedes, the Vice President of Renault, Carlos Antunes Tavares, paid a private visit to the Portuguese team’s facilities in Valongo, Oceanational Motor SA. The Ocean Racing Technology team takes part in the GP2 and GP3 Championship Series, both of which feed into the FIA Formula One World Championship. Carlos Antunes Tavares travelled to the north of the country in order to learn more about the infrastructure that was built as an operational base for the Portuguese Racing Team as they accompany the Formula One World Championship throughout the season.

For Tiago Monteiro and José Guedes, “It was quite an honour to have received a visit from Carlos Antunes Tavares. He is one of the biggest names in the automotive world today, and after accepting the invitation to visit our facilities, he dedicated a day from his very busy schedule. This is a great distinction in itself for Ocean,” they began by saying.

“Being a highly recognized Portuguese with worldwide notoriety due to his well-known abilities and the role he is now playing, he is an excellent example for all Portuguese entrepreneurs as well as a source of inspiration for us. He is motivating us to continue with the development of our project even more. It was a fantastic experience having the opportunity to hear his comments about the areas in which we operate as well as his vision for the future,” concluded the two leaders of the Portuguese team.

In addition to the involvement of Motor Oceanational in motorsport at the highest level, the already installed infrastructure allows skills to connect with other areas of the business by leveraging the know-how and “expertise” of human resources.

It was a pleasure for both Tiago Monteiro and Jose Guedes to have this special opportunity to explain and show the entire Ocean project that started back in 2008: “It was a privilege to listen to his wise comments, which gave us extra motivation and guidance to continue developing various other projects that we are involved in with greater security and optimism.”

Carlos Antunes Tavares also liked what he saw and heard during the visit: “I was very impressed by the ingenuity and competitive spirit of Ocean that has surpassed the status of ‘start-up’ and is now entering a new phase of its life. The professionalism and creativity of the team is clearly visible as well as the quality of the financial management and sports. I wish Tiago and José all the success they deserve, a lifelong journey with Ocean. It is certainly a beautiful Lusitanian achievement and it makes us very proud to be Portuguese!”
