Isaac Tutumlu and Kurdistan Racing Team Return to GTWC in Jeddah with Lamborghini
The Spanish driver of Kurdish descent will return to competition this upcoming weekend to contest the race that will close the season of the world’s premier GT3 endurance championship, the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup. Tutumlu will share the GRT Grasser Racing Team’s Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2, which will sport the colors of Kurdistan Racing Team, with Mateo Llarena and Loris Cabirou in the six-hour race held at the Corniche Circuit.
Isaac Tutumlu will make his return this upcoming weekend to the GT World Challenge Endurance Cup, considered the most prestigious and competitive GT3 championship globally, which will conclude the current 2024 season at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia. For the Dubai-based driver, it marks a return to a championship where he has achieved some of his greatest sporting successes in his long motorsport career. Last year, the Spanish driver of Kurdish heritage finished third in the final standings of the Pro-Am Cup category, thanks to one victory and two podiums.
On this occasion, and always defending the colors of Kurdistan Racing Team, Tutumlu will drive a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2 of GRT Grasser Racing Team, the Austrian outfit that is the official team of the Sant’Agata Bolognese brand. Tutumlu will team up with Mateo Llarena and Loris Cabirou, forming a trio that will compete in the Silver Cup category, one of the most contested in the championship. With nearly five dozen vehicles on the track, the competition promises to be fierce, with strategy playing a crucial role in the six-hour race.
“I am very happy to enjoy the opportunity given to me by GRT Grasser Racing Team, which is Lamborghini’s factory team, to compete in their Huracán GT3 Evo 2 entered in the Silver Cup category. It is an excellent opportunity to discover a circuit like the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, where I have never competed before. Although I have trained several hours in the simulator, it will be important to adapt as quickly as possible from the first private tests scheduled for Thursday,” explains Tutumlu. He adds, “It is an honor to continue representing Kurdistan in competition, and I want to thank all my sponsors who have made it possible for us to be here. We aim to fight for the podium in our category and try to help the Pro category car, which is fighting for the championship. Jeddah promises to be a quite challenging semi-urban circuit, which, from my point of view, resembles the Valencia Street Circuit.”
