BS+ Competition and Garrett Lowe look back at successful NASCAR Euro Series Driver Recruitment Tests
The NASCAR Euro Series held the Driver Recruitment Tests at the end of December at the Circuits de Vendee in Fontenay Le Comte, France. One of the main participants was eNASCAR simracer Garrett Lowe from the USA together with his German simracing team BS+ Competition, managed by Florian Haasper. In a car wrapped in the team’s zebra livery and featuring the #89 number, Lowe completed many laps on the French test track to get used to the powerful V8 car and its brand new sequential gearbox. Lowe first acclimated to the wet track on rain tires, then let his #89 BS+ Competition Chevrolet Camaro fly around the track in the zebra livery with impressive lap times.
“It was a fantastic experience,” said Lowe, who is not only a sim racer, but also an experienced real-world racer. “I was able to get used to the car and the track. I’ve been able to learn a lot. I’ve seen wet conditions and we were a little careful, but once we were on dry tires it was all about pushing the car to the limit. We found the pace pretty early and were able to work through some set-up changes. I’m very fortunate to have this opportunity and can’t thank the NASCAR Euro Series and BS+ Competition enough. Being a part of eNASCAR on iRacing has definitely helped me and it’s the most valuable experience on the list. This is a NASCAR Stock Car and not a Late Model and it was two great days.”
Team Manager Haasper added, “Those two days were just a great experience. Having one of our BS+ Competition eNASCAR and Prodigy Racing League drivers out here on the track was just a lot of fun. He was comfortable in the car and made big steps in two days. Thanks to the NASCAR Euro Series for this opportunity. Thanks to EuroNASCAR CEO and President Jerome Galpin for the perfect hospitality. He put a lot of effort into the test days and shared his knowledge with us. He supported Garrett a lot to make these big steps and the whole TEAM FJ crew really impressed me. It was a unique experience and a lot of fun.”
The Driver Recruitment Test is the best way to start a racing career in the NASCAR Euro Series. Two other drivers, Marko Admazda (Germany) and Henri Timonen (Finland), joined Lowe during the test. Both coming from rallying backgrounds, the young drivers had to adjust to road course racing and the mean V8 machine that provides the best touring car racing in Europe. The DRT is the first step, and with the support of TEAM FJ and the Galpin family, the drivers will now have the opportunity to become part of the 2025 NASCAR Euro Series grid. Stay tuned for more information on the participants and the Driver Recruitment Tests prior to the start of the season in April at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain.
