Mücke Motorsport starts into Zandvoort weekend with Formula 3 victory by Felix Rosenqvist
Berlin team Mücke Motorsport started with a victory into the sixth event of the Formula 3 Euro Series (F3ES) and the eighth station of the FIA Formula 3 European Championships (EC) on Saturday (25th August) in the Dutch Zandvoort. Swede Felix Rosenqvist secured his first win in this year’s race 16 and accomplished the second successive Formula 3 success for the German Capital’s racing team after Pascal Wehrlein (Worndorf/both Dallara Mercedes) brought home great results from the Nürburgring event last Sunday (19th August).
„I am thrilled with this success“, said 20 year old Rosenqvist. “My Mücke team already provided me with a fast car for Friday’s qualifying, which paid off for the race.” The Swede, starting from position two, had taken over the lead immediately after the start and defended this position for the remaining 26 laps on the 4.307 kilometre long track, ahead of runner up Sven Müller who had started as seventh (Dallara Mercedes) by a remarkable two seconds. Rosenqvist is also listed as driver of teh fastest race lap, while Pascal Wehrlein crossed the finishing line as seventh.
„Following an excellent start, Felix drove a flawless race of which he remained in charge all the way to the finish. A fantastic success for him and our entire team”, said team manager Peter Mücke. “Pascal performed very well, too and was able to improve his starting position by one place. He delivered the same times as the lead drivers during the race.” The overall F3ES table now shows Wehrlein in third place, while he ranks fourth in the EC. Rosenqvist moved to position four of teh EC and is sixth in the F3ES after Saturday morning’ s race.
