After a fruitful practice session on Thursday, AVF kept momentum in Monaco with a good performance in today’s qualifying. On the Principality’s legendary tarmac, under clear skies and a warm sun, the Spanish team secured a fourth row start thanks to a flawless performance by Zoel Amberg. With the field split in two groups to minimize traffic issues, the Swiss talent took the track as part of Group B and once again he proved his feeling with the monegasque track with a masterful drive. After posting quick laptimes that kept him in the highest part of the timesheet for the whole 25 minutes of running, Zoel closed the session 4th quickest in his group. Under Monaco’s special qualifying rules this means that Amberg will start the race from 4th row, on 7th spot of the grid as a consequence of being part of the quickest group.

On the team’s other car, rookie Beitske Visser continued her learning process on the calendar’s most difficult track, improving her thursday laptime by two full seconds. After another error-free session and with more useful miles under her belt, Beitske will start tomorrow’s race from P19.

Zoel Amberg: Q. Gr.B – P4; Grid – P7

“I’m happy with my performance and the starting position, even if I think that we could have done even better. The car is quick, we proved that on Thursday already, but today I struggled a bit in bringing the rear tyres up to temperature. My rubber started to work as it would be supposed to do only in my last lap, just one flyer more and my laptime would have been even better. Anyway, fourth in the quickest group isn’t bad at all, I hope it bodes well for the race”.

Beitske Visser: Q. Gr. B – P10; Grid – P19

“It was a tough session, being a rookie on both the car and the track made it quite challenging. On such a peculiar experience is paramount, so I focused on avoiding mistakes and increasing my mileage. I reached my goal and also improved my laptime a lot, so I can be happy with my performance. The race won’t be easy starting from the back on the grid but races can be quite eventful in Monaco, so we’ll see what happens”.
