Trackspeed Head to Donington on Winning Form

Trackspeed Racing will close out the 2014 Avon Tyres British GT season at Donington Park this weekend. David Ashburn and Nick Tandy once again pilot the #31 Porsche 911 GT3 R, with the Demon Tweeks #63 crewed by season-long partnership Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen.

Ashburn and Tandy won last time out at Brands Hatch – after an unfortunate puncture for the team car. Keen was steering the #31 to victory when the tyre deflated with just minutes to go, denying him and Minshaw their third victory of the season. They go to Donington looking to avenge that poor luck.

There’s plenty at stake at Donington Park – the #63 crew can still attain a top three position in the championship, and the teams’ title is also a possibility. Both eventualities would require some luck and an extremely good result for the team, however. That will be made more difficult as the #31 must serve a success penalty at their pitstop during the two-hour race.

The race gets underway at 12:55 on Sunday.

Phil Keen, Porsche 911 GT3 R #63
“Brands Hatch was the perfect weekend that was ruined by one tyre, and obviously that was frustrating. But we can use that as motivation to end 2014 on a high here. I’ve had another great year with Jon and the whole team. The longer races suit us because we’ve got consistency and a great understanding. We’re in shape for a good result and we plan to go for it!”

David Ashburn, Porsche 911 GT3 R #31
“It was good to come back at Brands, and I had a lot of fun. It was strange to almost be disappointed on the podium – it was really annoying to lose the one-two finish! That said, I’m looking forward to more fun with Nick and the team and I’m sure we can pull a good result out of the bag. A 20 second penalty will make that harder, but Donington always produces great racing and that’s what we all come for!”
