Double success for the German Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport in Macau
The double pole is followed by a double success: The German Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport from Berlin showed a great performance on Saturday (15th of November) at the 61st „Suncity Group Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix“ in China with an almost sensational premiere. The Swede Felix Rosenqvist and the Austrian Lucas started on the first two positions at the Qualification Race and crossed the finish line in the same order. So the two Mücke pilots will also start from position one and two at the Formula 3 Grand Prix on Sunday (16th of November, starting time 08.30 MEZ). Their Colombian team colleague Tatiana Calderon (all Dallara Mercedes), only woman in the field of the 30 best Formula 3 pilots of the world, finished 16th on Saturday and will start from this position at her Macau premiere race at the 6.12 km long city course in the former Portuguese colony.
„A big thing so far. You have never seen this before, two of our drivers starting from the first two positions at the Qualification Race and the Grand Prix of Macau as well“, team principal Peter Mücke said. „Felix, Lucas and Tatiana showed a great performance at the Qualification Race. It has been a tough race with a neat result for our team in the end“, the racing stable owner added. Rosenqvist, in 2012 second at the Macau GP and taking part for the fifth time, started from first position and lost his lead to his team colleague Lucas Auer in the first lap and one lap later he lost the second position to Max Verstappen (Netherlands/Dallara Volkswagen). In the fourth out of ten laps Verstappen crashed into the guard rail and dropped out – now two Mücke pilots held the lead, Auer and Rosenqvist.
Shortly after that a Safety Car phase followed. And after the restart in lap 8 Felix Rosenqvist used the slipstream to overtake his team colleague Lucas Auer. The Swede won with 0.935 seconds ahead the Austrian and 2.494 seconds ahead the British Tom Blomqvist (Dallara Volkswagen). Furthermore, Rosenqvist scored the fastest lap time with 2:12.944 minutes. „We have a very good starting position for the Grand Prix. But nevertheless it will be hard work to bring the positions one and two home due to the slipstream duels at the long straights. But we will do everything to achieve that“, team principal Peter Mücke said. „And we hope for Tatiana to reach the top ten after her so far impeccable accomplishments in Macau.“
