PROsport Performance to enter GT4 European Series with Porsche 981 Cayman SP
PROsport Performance is currently finishing its newly built Porsche 981 Cayman SP and its preparation is well underway to enter the 2015 GT4 European Series. The Porsche specialist from the German town Herschbroich conducts its first test in the end of February.
PROsport Performance holds a strong reputation when it comes to preparing Porsches. They brought the first Cayman into the VLN racing series and with last year’s rules they developed the first Cayman for the SP6 division in which they won instantly.
The Porsche 981 Cayman SP that the team is currently developing isn’t the race version of the GT4 model that will be announced by Porsche at the Geneva Motor Show in March. “We have ordered our car in November 2014 in order to be right on time for the 2015 season,” team co-owner Chris Esser explains.
Once homologation to race in the GT4 European Series has been granted, the 385 hp strong race car with PDK gearbox and paddle shift will be seen at six different top level events in as many countries this year.
“The GT4 European Series is a perfect alternative for teams which are not up to pay a lot of money for a GT3 commitment”, PROsport Performance team manager Steve Buschmann knows. “The series is well organised, concentrates on European events and it’s a perfect platform to race against many different cars. The newly manufactured Porsche GT4 also proves that the GT4 class will become more and more important in the future. We share this opinion.”
The first test is scheduled at the Ascari race track in Spain to fine-tune the car and to evaluate drivers who are interested to race the full season. “Once we receive the homologation for our Cayman, we plan to build a second car for the GT4 European Series. Interested drivers can contact us by sending an email to info@prosport-performance.de”, says Buschmann.
