It has been an interesting and useful two-day testing session in Jerez de la Frontera for two of the top team of the 2015 International GT Open , AF Corse and Teo Martín Motorsport. The McLaren 650S of the Spanish team hit the track for the first time and immediately proved the potential of the new GT racer by the Woking-based make as well of the professionalism level of the revived team of Teo Martín.
Álvaro Parente and Miguel Ramos were quick from straight and the best time (1.43.826) in the first of the eight 55-minute session actually was the fastest lap time of the whole test. “We are very happy with how things went”, said Teo Martín explaining that the main objective was to familiarize with the car and working procedures.
AF Corse brought different Ferraris F458, including a GT2, and tested a number of drivers, with US Peter Mann and Russian Ilya Melnikov joining team regulars Michele Rugolo (who was fastest in three occasions), Claudio Sdanewitsch, Pasin Lathouras and Raffaele Giammaria. “We had no hiccup whatsoever in our working programme” commented AF’s sporting director Batti Pregliasco.
While conditions were perfect during Day 1, the rain appeared on Saturday, with only the last session again on a dry track. A GT4 car, the Ginetta G55 of Tolman Motorsport, entrusted to Pattison-Davenport, also joined the test.
