VAN DER ENDE AND EBNER SECURING POLE POSITIONS AT THE NÜRBURGRING

Last year’s race winner Ricardo van der Ende (NED) and Peter Ebner (AUT) will be starting Sunday’s races of the Competition102 GT4 European Series at the Nürburgring from pole position. Ebner set fast lap times throughout the first session for AM drivers and was hard to beat with the KTM X-BOW GT4 race car. With the first eight drivers covered in 0.8 seconds, Van der Ende couldn’t afford a single mistake in the PRO session. The Ekris BMW M3 GT4 driver was able to hold off the Chevron GT4 of Marcus Clutton (GBR) and the Chevrolet Camaro GT4 of Duncan Huisman (NED).

Starting on a wet track, Ebner was first to put fast lap times on the timing screens. The Austrian driver was half a second quicker than Rob Severs (NED), driving the Ekris BMW M3 GT4. Jordan Witt (GBR) performed well with the Chevron GT4 too, bringing himself in third position on the grid in front of the Chevrolet Camaro GT4 of Marcel Nooren (NED). AM class leader Daniel Uckermann (GER) qualified fifth, putting the KTM X-BOW GT4 just in front of the Porsche 911 GT4 of Håkan Ricknäs (SWE).
Van der Ende wasn’t discouraged of the rain drops that were reported in the final stage of the second qualifying session meant for PRO drivers. With bettering his best lap a couple of times, the Dutchman hold off not only Clutton and Huisman, but also Peter Terting. The German debuts in the series with the PROSport Performance’s Porsche Cayman SP and had already shown promising results in both practice sessions. Daniel Uckermann was the best AM driver in position six and was just 0.008 seconds quicker than championship leader Jelle Beelen (NED).

The first race of the Competition102 GT4 European Series at the Nürburgring starts at 10:05 hr (CET). Lights for the second race go out at 16:25 hr (CET). Both races can be watched live at www.gt4series.com/live and via the official iPhone app.
