AVF face tough day at Silverstone
The second race of the Formula Renault 3.5 championship at Silverstone hasn’t been the luckiest outing the year for the AVF drivers. In the final heat of round 6, Alfonso Celis was once again slowed down by an electronic problem in qualifying but managed to solve the issue together with the team for the race. On the other hand, returning from the summer break, Beitske Visser suffered from the physical stress which is typical of Silverstone. The team, led by Adrián Vallés, will now head towards the Nurburgring, where they hope to be back fighting for the points zone with both cars in the seventh round of the 2015 series.
Alfonso Celis (#15) Qualifying 2: P17 1’41”958 – Race 2: P12 + 34”619
“In qualifying I was only able to complete one lap before the car started suffering from electric issue once again. Then we finally managed to solve the problem and the race went well. Unfortunately though, this has been a completely useless weekend as we couldn’t learn or prove anything. We hope for a prompt rebound in Germany”.
Beitske Visser (#16) Qualifying 2: P18 1’42”069 – Race 2: P13 +39”476
“I felt totally destroyed today. At the start I managed the situation as much as I could, and then I tried to do my best during the race. Unfortunately, this is the worst possible track for experiencing physical issues given the high cornering speeds. We hope to do better next weekend at the Nurburgring”.
The next round for the Formula Renault 3.5 series will be on the 13th of September at the Nurburgring
