But SA’s Bentley Boy Pepper out of luck at second ADAC GT Masters round

South Africa’s Bentley Boy Jordan Pepper impressed with his speed and prowess at the second round of the German ADAC GT Masters series at the Sachsenring over the past weekend, but it proved a frustrating meeting for the Edenvale charger.

Pepper who shares the Number 9 ABT Bentley Continental GT3 with reigning series Gentleman’s champion Andreas Weishaupt, was annoyed after being held up by a Safety Car mix-up in the first heat and the Bentley was sidelined after his teammate lost it after Jordan handed it to him is sixth in the second race…

“Race 1 was good, although the Safety Car messed us up in my stint,” Jordan explained. “They refused to let us through and after they did I had an eight-second gap to close down. “I did that and fought back to 20th i, but I ran out of time in the end and we ended up third in class so it wasn’t all bad.”

The ADAC GT Masters sees one of the two drivers in each car qualify and race the first stint in the first race and the other driver qualifying first and racing first in the Second race, which meant it was Pepper’s turn to qualify and race the Number 9 Bentley 11th around a challenging circuit the Edenvale youngster thrives on Sunday morning.

“We started 11th after a crazy qualifying and I drove my way to sixth before the pitstop, but my teammate unfortunately lost the car on his first flying lap and we had to retire,” Jordan sighed. “Overall it’s a shame we couldn’t get the class win because we had a commanding lead, but we will fight back in five weeks — that much I am sure of.”

The next round of the ADAC GT Masters is at Lausitzring 5-6 June.
