GDL RACING FLIES HIGH IN THE LAMBORGHINI BLANCPAIN
With two eight overall positions and the second place of the class claimed in Race 1, Rik Breukers brought high at Spa the GDL Racing banner. The San Marino-based team and the young Dutchman showed well one more time on the Belgian track, in the fourth of six double rounds of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa. After eight races, Breukers is still second in the PRO-AM class, just 11 points behind the top of the chart.
In the first qualifying session, the 18-year-old Breukers entered the top-10 – with 50 cars at the start – and finished ninth overall. In Race 1 he recovered one place, fighting in the leading group and claiming a podium finish, following the fourth class victories of Monza, Silverstone and Paul Ricard.
In Q2 Breukers was sixth, starting Race 2 from the third row and finishing eight again and fourth in his class.
Bashar Mardini, always with a GDL Racing Lamborghini, finished 11th and 13rd in the AM class, showing once more a great consistency, also on a difficult track as the Belgian one.
The next round of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa is scheduled for the middle of September, on another historic track as the Nurburgring.
