There is a satisfaction at I.S.R. Racing
The two-day official test at Paul Ricard HTTT in Le Castellet opened season World Series by Renault – FR3.5. I.S.R. Racing and its two drivers Sam Bird and Jake Rosenzweig had the first chance to try the brand new single-seater. Although it has teething troubles, it shows how big step ahead it is. New car is already for some four seconds per lap faster than the previous generation of FR3.5 car. A significant shift is mainly in the area of aerodynamics, brakes and engine. Conversely, the biggest problems currently caused by air system controlling the gear change and the newly introduced DRS.
Sam Bird left the team in the afternoon because of his obligations during Australian F1 Grand Prix.
Igor SALAQUARDA – team principal
„It was a kind of shakedown, rather than a test. Teams are just learning to deal with new cars and they still have their issues. Therefore, we did not use all sets of new tires. Even so, however, the new car showed that is in character much like F1 car, especially huge aerodynamic downforce. We get confirmation that Sam is really very fast, unfortunately, Jake had a temperature and didn’t felt well. Despite of it we are satisfied with the results and how the test went.”

„I feel very at home with everyone at I.S.R. Racing. It is a hard working friendly team and together I think we can learn o lot. We had a few issues with the new car, but it’s better that they happen now. Next time we will continue to learn and understand our car.“

Day 2 23rd place 1:47.977 +2.330
„It was a tricky test, but that was to be expected with a new car with new systems. Hopefully we will have fewer problems next time and we can work to unlock some speed from the car.”
