Audi Sport TT Cup – Win or bust for van der Linde

Audi Sport TT Cup, Nürburgring 2016

South African Audi Sport TT Cup star Sheldon van der Linde heads to the Hockenheimring in Germany 15-16 October looking for nothing less than a repeat of the double victory he scored at the circuit on his debut in the series back in March.

“The aim is clear,” Sheldon confirmed. “We want to repeat our performance from the Hockenheim opener a few months ago.”

Van der Linde has won an equal best four of the twelve Audi TT Cup rounds so far in 2016, scored four pole positions and set three fastest race laps to lead the TT Cup rookie title by a single point over Dane Nicklas Nielsen. And while he sits third in the overall title chase behind seasoned drivers, Finn Joonas Lappalainen and Germany’s Dennis Marschall, he refuses to give up on that title overall championship dream until it is no longer plausible.

“Realistically the Rookie Championship is our main focus heading into the weekend,” Sheldon pointed out. “But as we have seen time and time again this season, anything can happen in TT Cup and usually does, so the overall championship is certainly not out of reach and I will do everything to make up as many points as possible.

“I’d love to end the season on a high and Hockenheim is the perfect place to do so!”
