WP Karting Round 3 – Van der Watt after elusive 2017 success
Julian van der Watt may have dominated proceedings in the inaugural Formula 1600 races at Killarney last week, but the Cape Town racer heads to his local kart track on Saturday intent on winning his first kart race of the season.
“I have had a brilliant start to my main circuit,” Julian explained. “But my karting year hasn’t been all that spectacular and it is time to set that right and I intend to do just that this weekend. “My mate Umpie Swart has been on it this season and I need to put a stop to his advantage, so I’m looking forward to putting an end to that advantage.
“We also need to be ready for the next national here at my Killarney home track too, at the end of the month – I won that race last year and I would like to make that a tradition, so this weekend is quite important in that respect – bring it on!”
