GP3 Announcement & Preview – SA lad Raoul signs with Campos Racing

South African racer Raoul Hyman has signed to drive for Campos Racing for the 2017 GP3 season starting at Barcelona this weekend 13-14 May.

Hyman, who successfully completed the team’s preparations in all three official GP3 series pre-season test sessions, was regularly near the top of the time sheets before wrapping up fifth-fastest on the final day of testing in Valencia, is delighted to be signed for a race seat.

“I am thrilled that Campos Racing has put its faith in me for one of its three GP3 race seats for 2017,” Raoul admitted. “I have worked hard with the team in both its pre-season Formula 2 and GP3 tests and I have really enjoyed working with the guys. “I can’t wait for Barcelona this weekend – it is a bonus to race on Grand Prix dates throughout the European season.”

Hyman, who has won races in British Formula 4 and impressed in European F3 will drive alongside French driver Marcos Siebert and Argentine Julien Falchero in Campos’ GP3 Series line-up for 2017. GP3, which races over F1 Grand Prix weekends, is a recognised stepping stone to Formula 1. The season commences this weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix meeting in Barcelona.
