SMP Racing by AVF scores P5 in Monza race 2

SMP Racing by AVF secured more valuable points in race 2 of the World Series Formula V8 3.5 championship at Monza with the fifth place of Matevos Isaakyan. The Russsian driver overcame a difficult beginning, as he had to start from the pit-lane due a clutch problem caused by aborting the previous start procedure. Matevos then fought hard and made his way up to a good points finish.

On the other hand, bad luck hit Egor Orudzhev after he had to start from the pit-lane as well. Egor was recovering and showed a very good pace but he was forced to retire when he suffered a contact with another car during lap 6.

At the end of the weekend at the famous Italian circuit, SMP Racing by AVF maintains second place in the teams’ standings with 129 points. Orudzhev and Isaakyan are fifth and sixth in the drivers’ championship with 67 and 62 points respectively.

The next stop for the World Series Formula V8 3.5 is scheduled at the Spanish track of Jerez de la Frontera, on the 27th and 28th of May.

Matevos Isaakyan

“At the start we had the same clutch problem we suffered at Spa, but this time I couldn’t do anything about it. The anti-stall didn’t work and the car stopped, so when the race began I had to find my way up from P11. Being on a low downforce setup I was struggling in the fast corners. Maybe it wasn’t the best strategy but in the end I took P5 and I’m quite happy”.

Egor Orudzhev

“It was a bad race, I think it was a mistake from my side at the start but in the opening laps the pace was good at least. I was the second quickest car on track and maybe we found the issues we had. We are going to analyze the data, and despite the retirement things looked more promising than yesterday”.
