Cape race fans headed to Killarney’s Saturday 3 June’s Power Series races can look forward to a battle of the giants as Crossley & Webb Sports & GT series regulars who missed the last round return to take on a newcomer, who stole the headlines last time out.

Marcel Angel’s Autohaus Angel Ferrari 458 GT3 was a popular new arrival at the May meeting as he battled for second with Andre Bezuidenhout’s Weltevreden Estate Juno-Nissan while the visiting Franco Scribante sped away up front in his Chevron-Suzuki V8. But Cape racing favourites — Johan Engelbrecht and his Jogajoga Café Porsche GT2R and Dawie Joubert’s wild Lotus Exige Honda will both be back to defend their Killarney reputations.

But as they say in the classics; that’s not all folks! Francis Curruthers working flat out to ready his magnificent Aquila-Corvette V8 for the weekend to allow him to face off with Juno pair Bezuidenhout and Class A championship leader Colin Plit’s Honda-propelled Tricera Investments for the honour of the fastest sport car next Saturday, while Craig Jarvis is down to race his Ferrari 430 GT3 after damaging the Viper last time out.

All of the above will race for Class A honours, but they have to also keep clear of Class B runners, the likes of class championship leader and winner last time out, Gary Kieswetter’s Advanced Packaging Tech Porsche GT3 and a trio of similar cars in the hands of Mat Kreeve (NineXI Capital), Andre Brink (SSB Transport) and Nicky Dicks (Curvent Racing), as well as Nick Cunningham-Moorat’s ever-improving Auto MC Nissan GT-R R35.

The action continues down the field into class C where Martin Pugh will be keen to repeat his class win last time out to extend his class title advantage aboard his Appleberry Farm Shelby Can Am Nissan and his regular challengers Louis De Jager (Lola T212 Toyota), Maarten Prins in another Porsche GT3 Cup and Gavin Gorman’s sleek Nardini.

Last but not least, Crossley & Webb’s Sports & GT Class D will see Ray Farnham (Birkin 7 Opel) hopefully up against the likes of class championship leader Arno Church, should he be able to replace his similar machine’s FVH engine destroyed last time out.

The Crossley & Webb Sports & GTs will be supported by Killarney’s regular full program of also popular and entertaining races with practice all day Friday before qualifying early Saturday and a pair of heats later in the day. See you at Killarney!
