SMP Racing by AVF hits the top-5 at Jerez

SMP Racing by AVF had a productive on-track at Jerez De La Frontera in Friday practice for the fourth round of the 2017 World Series Formula V8 3.5. Lining-up at the southern Spanish venue, the team made it to the top-5 in the second collective session but, most importantly, completed a good amount of work looking forward to qualifying 1 and race 1 which will take place tomorrow.

After starting with overcast conditions in the morning, when a red flag with mere minutes to go also hampered the efforts of most of the drivers in terms of pure laptimes, the day provided sunny skies and warm temperatures for Collective Test 2 in the afternoon.

Russian Matevos Isaakyan left a positive impression by securing P4 at his only real attempt on new tires, while fellow countryman Egor Orudzhev did a good job too ending up P6 and P8 in the two sessions respectively.

Egor Orudzhev

“We had a solid day of work on-track here at Jerez today and we have to keep pushing. Tomorrow’s qualifying session will be very important as well as race 1 and we will be doing our best to keep progressing and do well.”

Matevos Isaakyan

“To be honest it has been a bit of a difficult day because we couldn’t put new tires on in the morning due to the red flag, and then in the afternoon we messed up with the timing a little and I could complete only one lap on new rubber. Definitely ending up P4 shows that we have a lot of potential. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
