Aso and Fontes highly motivated ahead of #VLN debut next Saturday

Both Spaniards will make their debut in the VLN Championship next Saturday taking part in the 44. DMV 4-Stunden-Rennen, in which they will drive the SORG Rennsport-run BMW M240i Racing Cup.

Álvaro Fontes and Guillermo Aso are ready to make their debut in the Germany-based VLN series, which takes place at the mammoth Nürburgring Nordschleife. The Spaniards will contest the 4-hour race, their first of four events at the famous German circuit culminating at the 24 hours of Nürburgring next June when Fontes and Aso will be joined by their fellow countrymen at the wheel of the BMW M240i Racing Cup.

Aso and Fontes, who obtained the mandatory B License at the Nürburgring head of their first VLN start two weeks ago, will get their first real taste of the challenging circuit in a race with almost 200 cars including GT3 and touring cars. BMW’s single-marque class is one of the most closely-fought of the championship and features an incredible international participation including Germans, Norwegians, Italians, Finns, Belgians, Americans, Danes or even Chinese drivers.

Fontes underlines that “the moment of truth finally has come. After many weeks awaiting for our debut, it is just around the corner. We got our first laps in the BMW at the Ring two weeks ago. It’s now or never! Let us go for it!”. His teammate Aso adds that “despite simulator training, nothing fully prepares you for such a challenge, a huge track with little or no margin for mistakes. We will have to learn to deal with traffic in order to make it to the finish achieving a good result.”

Saturday’s qualifying session is scheduled at 8.30 with the four-hour race starting at 12.00.
