Isaac Tutumlu ready to kick off the second half of season at Hockenheim
The Spaniard of Kurdish ancestry will head to Germany for another round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, as the 2022 season resumes after the summer break. Tutumlu will be back at the wheel of the Leipert Motorsport-run Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo in Kurdistan Racing Team by Tigris colors.
Isaac Tutumlu will contest the penultimate round of the 2022 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, which is scheduled at Hockenheim this weekend. The Spanish driver of Kurdish heritage will be sharing the driving duties with American Tyler Cooke and New Zealander Brendon Leitch at the wheel of the Leipert Motorsport-entered Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo once again. Tutumlu and his teammates will be fighting for Silver Cup class honors in the Lamborghini defending the Kurdistan Racing Team by Tigris colors and dealing with a mammoth 50-car entry list.
“I feel very motivated ahead of the German venue of the 2022 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup season. I have plenty of experience at Hockenheim as I raced there in different championships and cars such as the Audi R8 LMS GT3 or Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. I also carried out good testing there, so I will have a very good starting point to find the limits in the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo”, explains Tutumlu. The Spaniard underlines that “we will fight back after our retirement at the Spa 24 hours when I had a brake issue at La Source and crashed into the barrier. We want to achieve a strong result at Hockenheim because we already proved how fast and competitive our pace is, but we only need to convert it into results. This round is a completely different challenge because of its length of 3 hours, not 24, but pit strategy is still a key factor. I hope we will be able to put a strong set-up together as it will enhance our race trim later. We are definitely pushing to bring a good haul of points home from Germany.”
Saturday’s free practice session will take place at 09.45 with prequalifying scheduled at 14.05. On Sunday morning, qualifying session is due to take place at 09.45 with all three drivers in each car taking qualifying duties. The 3-hour race is scheduled at 15.00. All track action will be streamed live on YouTube. All times are CET.
